Immersion into the Heart of Quebec

Recap of the Bordeaux Boxers' Training Camp

August 30 2024 Updated on October 03 2024

August 18 marked the end of the Bordeaux Boxers' training camp in Quebec. Hockey, sweat, and Quebec's sports culture were all part of the experience!

Since their arrival on August 7, the Bordeaux team jumped right into a routine alternating between on-ice and off-ice training, primarily held at the Sportscene Sports Complex in Mont-Saint-Hilaire. It was an intense program for the Boxers, who laced up their skates again and fine-tuned their strategies ahead of their 2024-25 season in France, set to begin in September—we can't wait to see their new official jerseys on the ice.

A Jam-Packed Schedule

When in Montreal, you have to catch an Alouettes game, right? The team took a well-deserved break to head to Percival Molson Memorial Stadium and watch a Montreal Alouettes football game. A little rainy break that introduced them to the tradition of tailgating (hot dog included, of course) and showed them how we have fun here in Quebec!

The Boxers faced off against former players of the Gaulois de Saint-Hyacinthe, a highly anticipated matchup for local fans. Bruno Gervais, Maxime Talbot, Louis Domingue, Guillaume Brisebois, and Elliot Desnoyers, among others, welcomed our team from Bordeaux to the ice, but it was ultimately the Boxers who claimed victory with a 7-5 win. A close game that proved our French hockey team came to Quebec to work hard.

On Monday, August 12, the team headed to Quebec City and checked into the Bonne Entente Hotel. On the agenda: a press conference for local media to unveil the team's new jersey and introduce the Quebec shareholders, including Jean Bédard, Jacques Tanguay, and Patrick Roy. Special mention to Patrick Roy's motivating pep talk, which was greatly appreciated by the players. To wrap up their stay in Quebec City, they headed to Laval University's PEPS for an intense training session followed by an exhibition game.

La Cage, Proud Sponsor of the Boxers

The rest of the camp continued in Mont-Saint-Hilaire, where the Boxers kept benefiting from Quebec expertise. The Sportscene Sports Complex became their headquarters, a place where they could hone every aspect of their game and work on their team cohesion. And, of course, La Cage, a proud sponsor of the Boxers, made sure the players enjoyed a tailored menu featuring local foods. Food that fuels performance is exactly what they needed to stay at the top of their game!
